Learn how to play the game!

Starting the Game

To start the game shuffle your deck and draw 7 cards. Place down one or two Active Pokémon (Must be Basic or Baby.), and 1-5 Basic Pokémon on your bench. If you don't get any Basic Pokémon, your opponent chooses to draw a card.

During You Turn...

What to do during your turn:
1.First, you must draw a card. (Unless you are starting off the game.) If your starting off the game, shuffle your deck, draw 7 cards, place down one or two active pokémon, and 4-5 on your bench. If you don't get any basic pokémon, your opponent chooses to draw a card. 2.The following you can do in any order or you do not need to do at all.
• Attach one energy to a Pokémon, unless another card's Pokemon Power changes the effect.
• Play any amount of trainers except Supporters. You can only play one Supporter per turn.
• Retreat your active pokémon. To do this, discard the amount of energy that is under the Retreat Cost. If it doesn't have anything under there, just switch your Active Pokémon with a Benched one.
3.To end your turn, attack with your Active Pokémon. Read all effects, then check to see if your opponent did anything to reverse it.

How to Win

In order to win, you must either:
1.Get all six of your prizes.
2.Wait for your opponent to be unable to draw a card.

Sudden Death

If that happens, you win, no questions. But if there is a tie, the game goes into Sudden Death. In this, you start a new game, except with 1 prize. You play like usual.

Status Problems

First, we shall go over all status problems. There has been a couple changes from the original rules.

Paralysis: This means that for one turn, the pokémon can't attack. After your turn ends, the pokémon is healed. To show a pokémon is paralyzed, turn the sideways.

Sleep: This requires you to flip a coin in between turns. If you get tails, then your still asleep and can't attack. To show a pokémon is asleep, turn them the opposite direction of paralysis.

Poison: This status condition requires you to put one damage counter on a pokémon between turns. A couple pokémon, like Nidoking, can do 20 damage between turns. There's also a card that's poisin does 30 in between turns. If a pokemon gets poisoned again, replace the old poison with the new one. To show a pokémon is poisoned, put a poison counter on it.

Confusion: Unlike the old confusion, you can retreat whenever you want. However, if you try to attack and get tails, then you take 30 damage. To show a pokémon is confused, turn it upside down.

Burn: A burn requires you to flip a coin in between turns. If tails, put two damage counters on that pokémon. To show a pokémon is burned, put a burn counter on it.

Fainting: If your pokémon has fainted, your opponent gets a prize. You must place one of your benched pokémoninto the active position. The old one goes into the discard pile, along with any cards with it.
